Aarhus: Process optimisation of beer production
4 August to 15 August 2025.
The summer school 'Process optimisation of beer production' is a 2-week course that can substitute an elective course in your study programme. The purpose of this elective course is to provide basic knowledge of processes during beer production and analysis of beer.
You will obtain knowledge about:
- Processes during brewing
- Chemical analyses of beer
- Chemical analyses of raw materials and the influence of the chemical composition on the taste of beer
- Sensory evaluation
- Microbial testing during beer production
- Resource consumption and suggestions for optimisation during beer production
Lectures will be based on theory and practical laboratory work.
The entire course will be taught in English by lecturers and professors from Seneca College and Business Academy Aarhus.
There will be an exam at the end of the summer school which is weighted 5 ECTS credits.

The summer school is offered in collaboration with our German partner, BHT Berlin, in Aarhus and is held from 4 August to 15 August 2025.

The summer school is ideal for students who want to incorporate a different academic or cultural experience in their educational profile. It is held with students from Seneca College.

If you can get a credit transfer – that is, if the summer school can partly or fully substitute a subject in your programme – your participation in the summer school is free.
Practical information
There is no tuition fee for the course. You must pay all other expenses in connection with the summer school in Aarhus.
If you are offered a place on this summer school, a non-refundable registration fee (1,000 DKK) must be paid in approximately mid-April in order to ensure your registration. This amount pays for lunch and some of the combined social activities etc. and will be for your benefit. We may require you to pay a little bit more later on in the process.
