Physical mobility combined with virtual learning
What are BIPs?
Blended Intensive Programmes are short, intensive courses that integrate both physical and virtual learning components. They are designed to provide students and staff with a unique educational experience that leverages the benefits of both in-person and online learning environments.
Key Features of BIPs
- Combination of Mobility Formats:
BIPs combine short-term physical mobility with a compulsory virtual component. This allows participants to engage in collaborative online learning before, during, or after the physical mobility period. - Collaborative Learning:
The virtual component facilitates collaborative online learning, enabling participants from different countries to work together on specific assignments or projects. This fosters intercultural communication and teamwork skills. - Flexible Duration:
The physical component of a BIP typically lasts between 5 and 10 days, while the virtual component can vary in length. - Multidisciplinary Approach:
BIPs often involve transnational and transdisciplinary teams working together to tackle real-world challenges, such as those linked to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals or other societal issues. - Added Value:
BIPs provide added value compared to traditional courses by offering innovative learning experiences that are not typically available in regular curricula. They aim to reach a diverse range of students and staff, including those who may face barriers to long-term mobility.
Benefits of BIPs
- Enhanced Learning Experience: Participants benefit from a rich learning experience that combines the strengths of both physical and virtual education.
- Intercultural Competence: By working with peers from different cultural backgrounds, participants develop intercultural skills and global awareness.
- Networking Opportunities: BIPs provide opportunities to build international networks with students, academics, and professionals from various fields.
- Skill Development: Participants gain valuable skills in digital literacy, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are essential in today’s globalized world.
How to apply
The application form will be available a few months before the individual BIP is planned to take place, and the application deadline will be communicated then. You need to attach a motivational letter with your application. You must apply online. You can start and stop your application as often as needed - just remember to complete your application before the deadline!
A couple of weeks after the application deadline, you will be contacted with further information, such as dates of online information meetings and deadlines for payments, etc.
