Sustainability in Aarhus

Sustainability in Aarhus

Sustainability in Aarhus is a BIP organised by Business Academy Aarhus, CBS, Fontys and Vamk. It will be hosted by Business Academy Aarhus from 20-24 April 2026.

Today’s companies are facing demands from their surroundings in an unprecedented way, and it is no longer enough for a company to live up to the financial responsibility and the legal requirements. Companies are also expected to act ethically or maybe even philanthropically in some way. This places huge demands on both the company's innovative capacity and the way it communicates its initiatives with respect to social as well as environmental sustainability.

This project is designed to help participants learn about structured approaches to problem-solving and evidence-based decision-making within sustainable innovation and communication. In collaboration with students from three other international universities, students will work on actual problems for the company Innovation Living. This is a Danish SME which produces sofas and sofa beds at production sites in Denmark and Ukraine. The company exports its products to several European countries, where the products are priced in the medium segment and are sold through furniture stores.

Students must provide strategic and practical recommendations for problems, based on information they collect, and insights/theory they receive from international academic staff with a Sustainability, Economics, Strategic Management and Business background.

The project is “blended” as it is divided into two parts: online introductory lectures and coaching sessions, followed by an “intensive” 5-day on-site project in Aarhus, Denmark. The final project presentations will be delivered in front of high-level company representatives. Especially the 5 days that you spend together with all other participants, teaching staff and industry representatives make this experience unique and enriching. To many students, BIPs are ways to build an international network of professional and private contacts.

Who can join?

Each university will select 10-11 students to participate. Students will represent a broad spectrum of educational programmes.

From Business Academy Aarhus, this BIP is available to International Sales and Management students.
