Many of our programmes organise a Company Day or Career Day each semester, where you can meet companies looking for interns. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and introduce yourself as a potential intern.

Ask your internship coordinator or lecturer if there is a Career Day or Company Day for your programme.

Many students find their internship through their networks – e.g. friends, classmates, acquaintances, football buddies, running buddies, etc.

Through networks, completely random opportunities can often arise that you never saw coming.

You can improve your chances of finding opportunities in your network by being open and curious about what others are working on and by telling them what you are looking for.

As a rule, companies like to be contacted unsolicited.

If you have specific requests for companies you would like to intern with, contact them (via email, phone or an unsolicited application) and ask if they are interested in an intern.

The advantage of applying unsolicited is that you do not compete with a lot of others. On the other hand, it also requires a little courage.

Most of our programmes offer workshops in connection with your internship search. You will get inspiration and new knowledge about CVs, applications, job interviews, etc.

There is a lot of good advice for job interviews – so much so that googling can create more confusion than clarification.

As a rule, internships are unpaid (except for chemical and biotechnical science students, who do get paid for their internship).

If the company considers that you have done a particularly good job during your internship, they are allowed to pay you financial appreciation.

Yes.

If a company wants to reimburse you for costs related to your internship, this is allowed.

If you attend a higher education programme which is approved for SU, you can get an 'Ungdomskort' for your daily transportation to and from the educational institution. Read about the rules and how you apply at ungdomskort.dk

If your internship company wants to refund your expenses for using your own car between your home and your internship company, this is possible according to the state's travel rules. You can receive mileage allowance for the distance from your home to your internship location – regardless of whether the internship company is public or private – if you meet the conditions for mileage allowance. Read more here (Only in Danish).

If you are doing your internship in Denmark, the company is ALWAYS responsible for insuring you during your internship period.

Please note that different rules apply once the 'formal internship period' is completed. For example, if you and your company agree that you will work together to complete your final exam project/Bachelor project.

For an internship abroad, it is your responsibility to examine and assess whether you are covered by the company's insurance.

As mentioned in your internship agreement, you are obliged to maintain complete confidentiality regarding all the company's activities, products, employees, competitors etc. that you come across in connection with your internship and your internship report. This also applies after your internship period is completed.

If your written internship report is confidential, you must clearly indicate this. This must be done by clearly writing 'Confidential' on the report's cover page. Make sure that this is also done in accordance with your exam guidelines.

Staff and co-examiners are covered by the Public Administration Act's non-disclosure agreement.

It depends on the curriculum. In most programmes, you can arrange an internship in your own company. Ask your supervisor if this is an option for your programme.

If you are doing an internship in your own company, you can apply for office space in GROW, the Student Incubator at Business Academy Aarhus.

Your internship supervisor must approve that you do your internship in your own company before you apply for office space in GROW.
